The Educational Psychology - Level 3 Course is designed for people who wish to gain an understanding of principles and practice of psychology as applied to education and learning.
On successful completion of this course students will receive an accredited Level 3 Certificate of Achievement.

About this course
On completion of this course students will be able to:
Understand the theories and applications of the learning process.
Understand the principles of assessing educational performance.
Demonstrate their understanding of the individual differences in educational performance.
Understand the nature of special education needs.
Describe a range of teaching & learning styles.
Understand factors which determine student motivation.
Describe the effect of and strategies for dealing with disruptive behaviour.
Design the Layout of Educational Environments to maximise learning potential.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

Unit Three –Individual Performance in Educational PerformanceThe following topics are covered: Gender differences; Cultural differences; Explanation for the differences; and Strategies for improving educational
Unit Four –Students with Special Education NeedsThe following topics are covered: What are special educational needs?; Assessment of SEN; Specific difficulties; and Strategies for teaching students with difficulties.
Unit Five –Learning & Teaching StylesThe following topics are covered: Definitions, theories and measurement of learning and teaching styles; Individual differences; and Improving learning effectiveness.
Unit Six –Student MotivationThe following topics are covered: Definitions; Types and Theories (Physiological, Cognitive and Humanistic); Attribution theory; and Learned helplessness.
Unit Seven –Disruptive BehaviourThe following topics are covered: The definition and types of disruptive behaviour; Effects of disruptive behaviour; and Strategies for dealing with disruptive behaviour.
Unit Eight –Design & Layout of Education EnvironmentsThe following topics are covered: Physical features of the classroom environment; Effects of physical features on performance and feelings; and Creating better environmental conditions for learning.
Assessment:
You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. Coursework consists of a series of word processed or written assignments, which are submitted to and then marked by your course tutor.
