Specialist Alcohol and Drug Counselling Programme
The course offers a rare opportunity to develop specialist skills and gain experience of carrying a counselling caseload, within a specialist substance use agency.
Our Training Approach:
SAAS uses a participative and experiential approach to training. This enables participants to draw on their resources as people and workers. It places responsibility for learning with the participant, whilst the role of the trainer is to provide an environment conducive to learning and to facilitate the learning process.
Training methods may include formal taught sessions, facilitated group work, role-play and discussion. In all our training we aim to take into account the needs of the individual and to promote anti-discriminatory practice.
We are committed to the continual improvement of all our training, and following any training delivered for your organisation, an evaluation will be conducted and a report sent to you if required.
Trainers:
All course facilitators are qualified and / or suitable experienced trainers who are also currently working in the alcohol / drugs field. SAAS staff are expected to maintain the highest professional standards whilst delivering training and work in line with the agency's training and equal opportunities policies.
