I got a lot out of this course. A really interesting perspective coming from a screen director, instead of an actor or acting teacher.

STAGE TO SCREEN ACTING
with Graham Cantwell
20th June 2009
10:00am - 6:00pm
This is a course designed for actors who have more experience working on stage than in front of a camera. Its purpose is to give you a structured approach to preparation for working on film or television that will build on the teachings and principles you put into practice when working on stage, and cater the process to the unique nature of the film and television environment.
The course will run for 8 hours with a half hour break and will cost £100 for the day. Places are limited to 6 so everyone gets individual attention.
With practical steps the process outlined will give the actor everything they need to get to the rehearsal room or set prepared to begin the work of exploring the drama with the director and their fellow actors. It will also provide the terminology and vocabulary necessary to communicate with a director on set in a manner that will lead to more playable direction.
The different roles of crew and the terminology and technology that they use in various departments will also be covered.
