Street Jazz is a fusion of modern styles using a wide range of music from pop to r&b and hip-hop as well as other styles of music. This is a practical course introducing you to or improving your dance technique and vocabulary. The main aim is to provide a fun practical environment where you can learn essential technique, improve dance and performance skills as well as your own confidence.

About this course

Demonstrate warm up moves and Street dance techniquesIdentify improved co-ordination, flexibility, strength and staminaPerform a routine with greater confidence.

Please wear clothing that does not restrict your movement and allows you to adapt to changes in your body temperature. Tights, leotard or clothing that does not restrict movement will allow your tutor to see your work more clearly.The exercises are best undertaken in jazz shoes or trainers. Jock straps should be worn by men. Students to tie their hair back if it is long for their own safety and comfort and remove jewellery for comfort and health and safety.

Course programme

Each lesson will start with a full body group warm-up, followed by corner to corner/co-ordination/technical exercises. There is a chance at the end of the lesson to dance your routine whilst the teacher watches, coaches and comments. Some floor work may be used in class.


You will be taught together in a group, with individual pieces being worked on in front of the group so that you learn from each other’s performances as well as your own. This is a fun dance class that is guaranteed to get your energy pumping.
