Course programme

A complex relationship between fashion and function characterises the structured lingerie and swimwear market. Course Aims This course is aimed at designers new to Illustrator and starts by covering the basic features of Illustrator; building on this to show how the software can be used to create accurate, well-proportioned lingerie garment shapes complete with stitch, fastenings, trim and edging details. Course Programme Day 1 - How does Adobe Illustrator work - The screen layout and getting familiar with the basic tools - Using the pen tool, introducing anchor points and direction lines - Creating a simple knicker shape - Introducing stitch details - Creating symmetrical garments Day 2 - Creating garment shapes using a basic garment template - Introducing the grid and snap to grid tools - Develop your stitching: how to create zigzag and overlock stitches - Creating edging details - Creating bows, rings and fastenings - Filling garment shapes with colour and fabrics Day 3 - Creating garment shapes using a scanned body template - Working with your own designs - All materials for this course will be supplied by the University. - If this course does not fully meet your needs we can tailor the course to meet your specific requirements and even deliver them overseas.
