Introduction
The City and Guilds 7407 Certificate in Further Education Teaching is a new Level 4 course which has been developed to meet the requirements that teachers in FE have teaching qualifications.
Stage One of the course is a general introduction to the different skills teachers require. During Stage 1 students will be observed carrying out a teaching session and will be required to record 20 hours of teaching.
During the second stage of the course there is a more detailed look at the following topics:
- Principles of Learning and Teaching Methods
- Course Design and Planning
- Communications and Equal Opportunities
- Student Support
- Assessment of Learners
- Educational Issues and Professional Development
In addition students carry out a further 40 hours of supervised Teaching Practice which must be recorded, and she/ he will be observed four times.
What the course can lead to
The qualification is currently being matched to the first year of the Certificate of Education (Post 16). The Cert Ed is required for teaching full time in Further and Adult Education.
When the course is available
You can enrol in September, January or April. The Stage 1 & 2 full-time course can be completed in 18 months.
