Hear from one of our tutors about studying Tourism Management at Liverpool Hope.
Tourism is the world’s largest industry, worth over $3 trillion annually worldwide, and has become one of its biggest sources of employment.
There is no better city than Liverpool in which to study Tourism Management. Liverpool is a vibrant city and during its year as the European Capital of Culture (in 2008) over 14 million tourists visited the city, generating over £800 and creating approximately 15,000 new jobs. Following its success as Capital of Culture Liverpool has continued to develop new hotels and retail developments. New visitor attractions (centred on arts, heritage and culture) have also opened in the city. As a result there is a need for highly qualified graduates in Tourism Management.
The BA Tourism Management looks at tourism from both management and academic perspectives. It looks at issues such as the structure of the tourism industry; the nature of business environments; the impacts of tourism on people and the environment; the emergence of new forms of tourism to rival the package holiday; tourism operations management; tourism destination management; events management; human resource management and marketing. At Level 3, you will have the option to do a work placement in the tourism industry.
