VOLUNTEERING WITH VULNERABLE ADULTS
Course Content & Certificate
An introduction for volunteers to the skills required to support vulnerable
adults.
Content: communicating with people with different communication needs in a wide range of situations – supporting people with physical disabilities –
preventing, identifying and responding to abuse – methods of supporting social inclusion – empowerment
Successful completion of the course gives a Training for Care Certificate of
Attendance.
Tutors and Teaching
Alison Cole MSc, BN, RGN. Alison is a part-time member of TfC’s Care
Department and also a member of the Edinburgh L’Arche Community. She has particular interests in training and social care, and her previous experience includes a visiting lectureship at Queen Margaret University College and delivering health education related programmes on three continents!
Teaching is participative, with plenty of opportunities to discuss course related issues arising from your work.
