Overview

Health and safety, analysing mechanical systems, practical experience of the fabrication processes and problem solving will all be part of the course, as well as the structure and use of materials.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSE’s at grade C or above including mathematics and science. This is a one year course that is equivalent to 1.5 A levels. You will complete the 90 Credit Diploma course in your first year, and you can then progress onto our Extended Diploma qualification in your second year, in the same subject. This will help you to attain the optional units required to attain the full 3 A level equivalent qualification in your chosen subject.

One year, full time.

Skills and Benefits
This qualification will broaden your specialist knowledge, skills and understating of the Engineering sector. The course provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the draughting, materials science, safety and the physics of engineering products and systems. You will study eight units to give you 90 BTEC credits. All units must be passed to achieve the qualification.

Course Assessment
Learning is achieved through the completion of projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. All the units are assessed by course assignments, which meet BTEC grading criteria for Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Progression
On successful completion of the qualification you will be able to progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering (180 Credits) and extend your knowledge further or go directly into employment.
