Introduction
The A1 (Assessor) award is a nationally recognised assessment qualification. The qualification is a requirement of many vocational qualifications and is a prerequisite for anyone wishing to work in an educational setting.
Content
The A1 Qualification comprises four elements and covers:
- Developing plans for assessing competence with candidates.
- Judging evidence against agreed standards to make assessment decisions.
- Giving candidate feedback and support on assessment decisions.
- Contributing to the internal quality assurance procedure.
Assessment and Evidence
The A1 assessment will require the student to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the assessment process and their ability to competently assess. The A1 student will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence demonstrating their ability to competently assess candidates. Part of the course will involve you assessing learners - these may be your own or might be ours if available.
How Long is The Course?
The initial induction phase is two days of classroom-based tuition. This is followed by your workplace assessments. The time frame for completion of the course is largely down to the candidate – but the minimum time would be ten weeks.
