About this course

You will need to have vocational qualifications to at least level 3 and relevant experience in the vocational area you wish to assess. You will also need access to at least 2 NVQ candidates who are currently working towards their qualification. It would be an advantage in completing the award to have learners working towards their NVQ in your salon

A2 Assessors Award

A2 award

This award enables people to be able to assess NVQ level 2 or level 3 candidates on their practical skills either in the workplace or within a training organization.

What will you study

A2. Assessing Candidates' performance through Observation

  • Agreeing and reviewing plans for candidates' performance
  • Assessing candidates' performance against agreed standards
  • Assessing candidates' knowledge against agreed standards
  • Making an assessment decision and giving feedback

How will the training for these courses take place

A2: 4 two hour training sessions

How you will complete the award

You will receive individual help and support from at least two trainers who will guide you on putting together the evidence in a portfolio to demonstrate your competence as an NVQ assessor.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed by a variety of methods such as portfolio work and observation of you working with your NVQ candidates. You should be able to complete the A2 in approximately 3 months and the A1 in 6 months.

  • Course includes registration fees to City and Guilds and certificate (on successful completion)
  • 1st payment of £100 to secure your place
  • 2nd payment of £250 at the start of the course
