Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at A and AS Level is concerned with the effects and limitations of IT and the understanding of the new opportunities ICT provides within organisations and society. It is a highly practical subject, which encourages a problem solving and decision making approach to use ICT effectively. The College has a well equipped IT Centre - an ideal environment for achievement.
The course does not assume any prior knowledge of ICT.

Assessment AS and A2 students will have three sessions a week, a mix of theoretical and practical work. They will need to allocate time outside class to complete their theory and course work. Assessment for the module is by examination and project work completed each year. AS LEVEL Year 1 Assessment A Level & AS AS Unit 1 Information System 2¼ hour exam (excludes practical) 60% of total AS mark, 30% of total A2 mark Unit 2 Presenting Information Internally assessed portfolio of DTP + multi-media tasks 40% of total AS mark, 20% of total A2 mark
AS ICT students will be expected to purchase an appropriate textbook. Further details will be given in class. A2 LEVEL Year 2 Assessment A Level A2 Unit 3 Information systems within organisations 2½ hour exam 30% of total A2 mark Unit 4 Coursework: Use of Information systems for problem solving Internally assessed 20% of total A2 mark
A2 ICT students will be expected to purchase an appropriate textbook. Further details will be given in class.
