Why should I come to Pendleton College?
Accounting facilities and resources at Pendleton College are excellent, with dedicated classrooms and ICT suites. As well as a comprehensive supply of books, publications and classroom materials, there are departmental learning resource centres on both sites. A-Level Accounting provides an excellent grounding for all further study of accounting, business and finance.
What will I study?
The main stages of financial accounting, as well as the central aspects of management accounting are covered in detail. The subject content is studied in four modules; two comprising the AS Level, with two more making up the A2-Level. The modules studied are:
- Accounting Principles
- Financial Accounting
- Management Accounting
- Company Accounts and Interpretation
What will I achieve?
The AS or A-Level provides students with a number of career opportunities, such as accountancy, business and commerce or associated professions.
How is the course assessed?
The four modules are assessed by examinations containing computational, extended answer and interpretative questions.
What else will I do?
The department is committed to a policy of a range of enrichment activities including:
- Visits to accounting firms and other businesses.
- Invited guest speakers from the world of business.
- Opportunities to gain work experience with the college's finance office.
- Education/business initiatives - particularly related to problem-solving activities which are integrated into all business courses.
