A Level Biology (Edexcel)
This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of biological concepts and the skills needed to use these in new and changing situations. Also, by promoting an understanding of scientific methods, awareness of advances in technology, to keep students interested in, and enjoying biology!

How will I be assessed?
Units 1 & 2 are each assessed through 1 hour and 15 minute unit tests. The tests are composed of short answer questions

Unit 3 This coursework unit is assessed by a written report on a visit to a site of biological interest or a report of research into a biological topic and by an assessment of their practical skills.

Units 4 & 5 are each assessed through1 hour and 30 minute unit tests. The tests are composed of short answer questions. Unit 6 This coursework unit is an assessment of a report of an experimental investigation which students have devised and carried out.

What can I do after completing this course?
In combination with A-level Chemistry, Biology leads to a wide variety of courses in biological sciences, and requiring the support of two other sciences (A level Chemistry and Physics/Maths) can lead to a variety of paramedical careers including medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. It should be noted that Biology A-level on its own leads to biology related fields such as ecology, sports studies and psychology.
