Are you a keen reader? Your ability to read widely and independently is essential for this course as it involves studying a variety of set texts from different time periods.  If you choose to complete a one-year program (AS), you will study for texts; the two year course involves studying ten - texts that range from Shakespeare to the modern day. Studying literature gives us the opportunity to discuss a variety of issues, many of which are still being debated.  Texts will be analysed closely, and by the end of the course, your own written and communication skills will have been refined.  If you are passionate about reading and discussing your ideas both verbally and on paper, are able to work independently and meet deadlines, English literature is the course for you.
