This course is free for school leavers (Aged 16-18)

Course Content: Media is taught through two units. In your first unit you will learn how to use Photoshop and Indesign whilst creating a music magazine. You must show all your research and planning and complete it with a final evaluation.

For the second unit, there is an examination. You will study two topics, firstly the film industry and then representation in TV drama.

To help you in your studies there are planned trips to the cinema, TV studios and the Cornerhouse in Manchester.

Course Format: You will learn through a series of practical workshops and a range of activities such as screenings, discussions and tutorials. Throughout the course you will have a series of progress reviews to ensure you are on the right track. You will complete a music magazine cover, contents page and double page spread alongside sitting an examination.

Progression: Students who wish to progress onto A2 Media must achieve a minimum grade D at AS Level.

Students who take Media Studies at A Level may progress onto University to study the subject at a higher level. After University past students have worked for the Cornerhouse, marketing department, become Teachers and Journalists.
