The topics that are covered are as follows: Mechanics, Waves, Materials, Electric Circuits, The Particle Nature of Light, Further Mechanics, Gravitational Fields, Electric Fields, Magnetic Fields, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Oscillations, Thermodynamics, Space and Nuclear Radiation
Assessment
The A level is assessed at the end of the course in June of the final year.
There are three exams:
- Exam 1: 1 hour 45 minutes
- Exam 2: 1 hour 45 minutes
- Exam 3: 2 hours 30 minutes
In addition, 12-16 Core Practicals need to be taken for the Science Practical Endorsement.
Study Method
The course is specially designed for study by distance learning. Throughout the course there will be self-assessment questions, and tutor marked assignments (TMAs), to enable you to monitor your progress.
