A Level Religious Studies
Religious Studies is an increasingly popular 'A' Level subject. If you are interested in questions of meaning, social, religious and ethical issues, then this is the subject for you. It explores, in addition to other themes, the origins of philosophy in the West, relating this study to contemporary needs and concerns as detailed below.

AS - Unit 1 G571 - R.S. 'AS' studies the Philosophy of Religion: Plato and Aristotle, the concept of God, arguments for God's existence, the problem of evil, religion and science, psychological challenges to religious beliefs.
AS - Unit 2 G572 - Moral Philosophy: Natural Law theory, Utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, Situation Ethics, Religious Ethics, war and peace, abortion, euthanasia, genetic engineering, human embryo research, the 'right' to a child
A2 - Unit 3 G581 - R.S. 'A2' studies Philosophy of Religion - religious experience, religious language, the nature of God's putative attributes, philosophical issues concerning claims about life after death
A2 - Unit G582 - Moral Philosophy: meta-ethics (the study of ethical language), debates about free will and determinism, the nature and role of the conscience, and the application of ethical theories to sexual ethics, business ethics and environmental ethics.
