Who is this course for?
The course is designed if you are working in or interested in establishing a career in accounting and finance which could lead to a wide range of jobs from an accounts clerk to a financial manager.

What will I learn?
The content of the course is designed to simulate the role of the accounting technician in the workplace. The course will allow you to work through practical accounting exercises both manually and through the use of a computer.

Assessment
You will be assessed throughout the year, via AAT skills tests and work based evidence, followed by an externally set and marked exam at the end of the year. You will develop a student portfolio which will be developed at each stage of the course indicating your record of achievement.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
Depending on which stage of the course you successfully complete, studying for the qualification can improve your career prospects. Past students involved in the course at Ystrad Mynach College in recent years have reported improved status in relation to work content, responsibility and remuneration. Accountancy vacancies will frequently be sent to you through the college. This qualification is recognised throughout the country as being a valuable qualification in its own right. It also exempts you from foundation level for all professional accounting bodies, such as A.C.C.A., C.I.M.A., C.I.P.F.A.
