Combined AAT & Foundation Degree in Accounting [FdA]

The Association of Accounting Technicians [AAT] worked closely, in consultation with the University of Northampton to develop this unique, innovative and exiting Foundation degree in Accounting [FdA] open to AAT graduates [i.e. AAT graduates from either the NVQ or Diploma pathway option]. The foundation degree in Accounting [FdA] provides a high quality and relevant academic and work based skills in the area of finance and accounting. The Association of Accounting Technicians [AAT] is an established and well respected professional membership body with over 100,000 students, full and fellow members worldwide.



What are the Entry requirements? - No formal qualification required but achievement of a GCE is advisable

Diploma and degree holders in a non-business or accounting related subject


When can I commence study? - Full-time [September, January, March and June each year]

Part-time [September, January, March and June each year]

What will I study? - Unit 30: Introductory Accounting [IAC] [E] [Equivalent to NVQ units 1, 2 & 3]

Unit 31: Accounting Work Skills [AWS] [S] [Combines NVQ units 4, 7, 21, 22, 23]

Unit 05: Financial Accounting [FA] [E]

Unit 06: Recording and Analysing Costs & Revenues [RACR] [E]

Unit 15: Operating a Cash Management & Credit Control System [CMCC] [S]

Unit 32: Professional Ethics for Accounting Technicians [PEAT] [S]

[E] = Examination [S] = Skills Test


How is the course assessed? - By Paper-Based Examination [3 hours] & Skills Test [As Applicable]


Any deadlines I should know about? - Register with AAT by 1st March for June Exam. [30th Sept. for Dec. Exam]

Enter for the Exams. by 15th April for June Exam. [30th Oct. for Dec. Exam]
