What is this course?
The ABE Business Management programme is a professional, QCA-accredited qualification, which is internationally recognised. This specialist course prepares you for a career in business and/or gives you advanced entry on to university degrees in the UK and other countries. The programme includes theoretical issues of business and management and offers practical skills useful to employers.
What will I study on this course?
There are four modules in the certificate:
- Introduction to Business
- Introduction to Business Communication
- Introduction to Quantitative Methods
- Introduction to Accounting
Who is this course for?
This course is for students who are native English speakers or who have an advanced level of English and are looking to gain a UK qualification in higher education. This programme is aimed at students looking to study either a one-year course or students who want to study long term in the UK. This course is also suited for students who have an interest in Business or Finance.
What will I study after the certificate level?
Students can now go to the workplace with this qualification. However, if you would like to continue studying this course at Avalon, there are two more levels after the certificate:
- Diploma
- Advanced Diploma
When can I join a UK university?
Students can join a UK university after the Diploma part 2 (join 2nd year university) or after the Advanced Diploma (join 3rd year university). See for a list of degree courses available to students if they study this course.
How will I be taught?
Avalon teaches this course over 15 hours per week. Class sizes never exceed 20 students and are normally 10-15. You will have a lot of personal support from your teachers. Lessons will be given as lectures and seminars. The course lasts one academic year.
How will I be assessed?
Students will be assessed through module examinations. The exams will be carried out in external test centres. Avalon will advise you how to register for the exams.
What are the entrance requirements?
You must be at least sixteen years old and must have a level of English equivalent to at least 6.0 on the IELTS test.
When can I join the course?
You can begin this course all year round at Avalon School. There are four official start dates each year. If you would like to join between these dates, you will be placed on a ‘top-up’ English or study skills course until the next module starts. A charge may be incurred for this option.
