How can our training course be of benefit to your business?
After being in operation for 27 years, the Abrasive Wheels Regulations were revoked from the 5th December 1998.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 Regulations have taken its place
The guidance to Regulation 12 of this law states:
“Providing information and training for workers in the correct handling and mounting of abrasive wheels, (including pre-mounting and storing procedures) is also necessary to reduce the risk of bursting“.
As an employer there is still a legal requirement to train all staff who use and change abrasive wheels.
NWTC have trained over 3,000 people in the correct procedures for the mounting and use of abrasive wheels.

- Background of previous legislation
- Details of the safety requirements including:-
- Hazards and precautions
- Speed requirements
- Guards and workrests
- Composition and marking
- Care and control of wheels
- Storing, handling and transporting
- Inspecting and testing
- Mounting and balancing, dressing and truing

All persons whom companies intend to appoint to carry out the duties of mounting, or to supervise the mounting of Abrasive Wheels.
Please note—this course is for people using Abrasive Wheels on Grinding Machines and is not suitable for those people using Diamond Wheels on Road Saws and Petrol Driven Cutting Machines.
Certification
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be issued with a North West Training Council Certificate.
