To enable delegates to work safely, to provide an understanding of current legislation and promote awareness of hazards. To offer practical steps to reduce workplace accidents and encourage workers to adopt a culture that results in a safer workplace. Suitable for: All employees, who, as part of their working duties use abrasive wheels as defined in PUWER Regulations 1998 'all people who are involved in the process of assessing the risks in their working environment'.

The course will enable staff to ensure that safety issues are managed efficiently, protecting the themselves and workforce, other people and the general environment, and will ensure that legal compliance is achieved.
Course Content:
The Health & Safety at Work Etc Act 1974 and all other regulations relevant to the construction industry. To include:
- Overview of health and safety legislation
- PUWER 1998
- Hazards, Risks & Risk Control Measures
- Accident causation and prevention
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Types of machines and Abrasive Wheels
- Basic Manual Handling of equipment
- Environment to be used/not used
- Noise
- Safety checks prior to use
- Means of reporting
- Course assessment
Course Delivery
This three hour course is presented by our fully qualified and competent trainers at NIS Training Ltd. The training course has been approved by Business Link and CITB.
