Study Method:
A wide range of teaching methods will be used, including discussion groups, project work, tutor-led sessons, as well as resource based learning and laboratory experiments
Individual support is provided by a Personal Tutor, especially through the UCAS process.
Duration :36 weeks
Who the Course is For:
This course is for students who wish to develop the skills and competences necessary for accessing opportunities in Higher Education. Its special focus is on the Sciences and would support students who wish to progress to the many specialist and inter-disciplinary degrees in this academic area.
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous throughout the year and you will complete essays, projects and practical assignments as well as tests.
All units are graded as a pass, merit or distinction and students must obtain at least 60 credits of which 45 must be at level 3.
Course Leads To:
This course will satisfy the entry requirement for progression to Higher Education Colleges and Universities.
Entry Requirements:
You should have suitable communication and numeracy skills and be willing to develop these further, a good knowledge of a science subject would be an advantage.
When applying for this course you will need to complete an application form and attend an interview, which will involve an assessment of your current communication and numeracy skills.

You will be able to study in the following areas - English, Maths, ICT, Fundamental Chemistry, Biology and Physics
The tutorial programme will include study skills, interview techniques, examination skills, assertiveness training, higher education awareness.
