Course Aims:
This course is designed to enable those over 19 the opportunity to gain the necessary academic qualifications for entry into science engineering professions and higher education courses.

Algebraic Methods
Trignometric methods
Foundation differential calculus
Vectors
Logarithms and Exponentials
Together with mandatory units in Maths, English, ICT, Personal Development and Research Skills.
Progression:
Students who are successful in gaining the Access to Higher Education Diploma - Science a (Engineering) pathway are able to progress on to study at degree level in a related subject.

Exam:
There will be a mix of continuous assessment methods - essays, case studies, centre set examinations.

Entry Requirement
Ideally candidates should possible a GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above, however, this is not essential as candidates may study the Level 2 Certificate in Adult Literacy and the Level 2 Certificate in Adult Numaracy alongside the Access to HE Diploma course. There are no other specific entry requirements, however, acceptance on the course is subject to interview to ensure that each applicants aims match the programme, they have the ability to benefit from the programme and that they have the potential to achieve.
Students whose first language is not English should have IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. Any learners who do not have a sufficient level of written English would be advised to complete relevant ESOL qualifications prior to enrolling on a Access to HE course.
