Director
Gibril Faal BA(Hons), MSc, MSc, ACIArb, FRSA, JP With vast experience and expertise in areas including Business Support and International Development Finance, Gibril's work in Islamic Finance includes: Studied Islamic jurisprudence; developed and delivers Islamic Finance workshops; developed framework for Shariah-compliant business plans; Associate of the Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance; worked on linking Islamic Finance to ethical business, social enterprise and economic regeneration (whilst delivering a DTI-funded project in 2002/04).
Mr Mohammad Shafique
Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance
Mohammad Shafique is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. He has also completed IIBI’s Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Finance. At IIBI, he is responsible for the Institute’s programme development and also is an examiner for two Islamic Finance units offered by Association of Business Executives exam body (ABE). He organises the Institute’s monthly lecture series and is editor of IIBI’s in house magazine, ‘NewHorizon’.

10.30 – 11.30: Introduction to the Principles of Islamic Finance
Introduction and discussion of the ethical, commercial and religious concepts and principles on which Islamic Finance is based.
11.30 – 11.45: COFFEE BREAK
11.45 – 13.00: Main Contracts and Products in Islamic Finance
Information and presentation of the different types of commercial and personal finance products and packages, and discussion of the technical structure, characteristics and implications of these products.
13.00 – 13.45: LUNCH

Information and presentation of the range of Islamic Finance products currently available in the UK, discussion of packages relevant to entrepreneurs and Small & Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)

15.00 – 15.45: Business Planning for Islamic Finance
Information and discussion of how business planning themes and business plans can be made compliant to Islamic Finance principles and products - introduction to Shariah-compliant business plans
