As a professional accountant you’ll gain a better critical understanding of current theories and cutting-edge techniques when you gain your MSc in Accountancy from the University of Dundee.

This is an ideal course if you are already qualified with an IFAC member professional accountancy body (eg ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW, ICAI, CIPFA) and looking to build your professional qualification. The programme offers, through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), 50% (90 credits) of the 180 credits for a taught master's course to fully exam-qualified professional accountants.

About this course

The course focuses on the technical and theoretical study of fundamental accounting and finance subjects together with a professional project within the context of international accounting practice.

A master's degree demonstrates a significant academic ability. The project element underlines your skills in planning, organising, researching and presenting professional relevant findings in writing. The module content will enable you to gain greater confidence and authority in addressing more complex Accounting and Financial issues.

How you will be taught

Delivery of the taught modules involves a combination of lecture–style delivery, workshops, student presentations, student-led discussions and computer laboratory-based sessions.

You can start in either September or January of each year. You will study three optional 20 credit modules over either 1 or 2 semesters and a compulsory 30 credit Professional Accountancy Project.

How you will be assessed

Assessment will be a combination of examinations and coursework assignments.
