Why Study Here:

Suitable For:
Those who are numerate, who enjoy working with numbers and who are able to write well enough to produce short reports.

Application Method:
Application followed by individual interview

Content / Overview:
This course provides an excellent grounding for a career in accounting or other areas of business. It includes the two disciplines within accounting. Financial accounting looks at how firms produce the financial data showing the amount of profit or loss made in the last year. Management accounting is about how companies analyse financial information in order to make decisions. Assessment is through external exam and the department boasts a very good track record with results consistently and significantly above the national average. You should be able to write well enough to produce short reports and, although numeracy is important, percentages are the most difficult calculation. Every year, some of our students go on to study accounting at university, while others enter the accounting profession.

Delivery Method:
All sessions cover accounting theory and concepts plus exercises requiring practical application. Exercises involve solving accounting problems.

Assessment:
100% exam.

Progression:
Accountancy careers, or business and accountancy courses at university.
