Knowledge of the chosen operating system (Mac OS X or Windows) and the source application from which PDF files will be created (e.g. QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign etc). ICC profile and colour knowledge would also useful but not essential.

  • PDF/X Standards, PDF/X-4, Pass4Press and ECI specifications.
  • Distiller Presets and editing and managing PDF setting files covered in depth
  • Setting up watched folders
Preflighting
  • Using, managing and editing Preflight Profiles to detect and fix common output problems
Colour conversion
  • Convert from one colour space to another e.g. RGB to CMYK
Ink manager
  • Re-map colours from Pantone to CMYK and combine multiple Pantone inks within your file
PDF Optimiser
  • Versioning, font extraction, image down-sampling and data scrubbing.
