ADR - The Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (Driver Training) Regulations 1996

Van Hee currently provide training and examination facilities, to fulfil the current legislative requirements for drivers of certain vehicles - who carrying dangerous goods - to attend and complete an approved training course and pass an approved examination.

The course on offer with Van Hee is structured in order that the knowledge of the individual is developed to a point where they are capable of passing the set examinations.

Course Contents
The course itself covers the subjects highlighted by the awarding body and Department of Transport syllabus and is divided into modules covering:

• CORE
• PACKAGES
• CLASS 2 GASES
• CLASS 3 FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
• CLASS 4 FLAMMABLE SOLIDS
• CLASS 5 OXIDISING AGENTS / ORGANIC PEROXIDES
• CLASS 6 TOXICS
• CLASS 8 CORROSIVES
• CLASS 9 MISCELLANEOUS

Van Hee is also a centre for the provision of the TANKER module.

Training in these modules is conducted using registered and experienced instructors using various training aids, videos, and personal protective equipment allowing the trainee to gain knowledge and practical experience in fire fighting, first aid, and emergency situation response.

The normal duration of an Initial Course covering CORE, PACKAGES, AND SEVEN CLASSES is three days with the examinations on the fourth day. To undertake the TANKER module involves a 5th day.

Examinations
Examinations take place on the last day of the training course. There is an examination for each module undertaken, these are of a written format, but are multiple choice question and answer papers, which are both verified and marked by the City & Guilds of London.

Certification
Certificates are issued by the DVLA Swansea.
