Are you currently working in an assistant or support worker role in health and social care? Do you want to develop your skills and knowledge in the workplace? Our Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn more about working in this field and enables you to progress to higher levels of skills development.

This apprenticeship is designed for employees who work in settings such as nursing or residential homes, day centres, domiciliary care and clinical healthcare. The course combines work-based learning and assessment with taught sessions and online delivery, covering core skills and behaviours such as safeguarding and championing the health and wellbeing of individuals and colleagues.

As part of this care apprenticeship, you will complete the Care Certificate and a Diploma in Care Level 2 (England), as well as acquiring Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths. Once you have completed the course, you will have the chance to consider new, rewarding career pathways in the health and social care sector.

About this course

BOOST YOUR SKILLS – Develop key skills and knowledge including communication, safeguarding, health and wellbeing, human rights and professional development
LEARN WHILE YOU WORK – Gain a Level 2 qualification while putting your learning into practice in the workplace
INDUSTRY APPROVED – Complete the Care Certificate and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of a competent worker operating in a regulated field

You are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and provide the result prior to starting
The Care Certificate must be achieved as part of the Apprenticeship Standard, as well as a Diploma in Care Level 2 and Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths
You must be at least 18 years old
Working for at least 30 hours per week in an appropriate role
Experience of working in the health and social care sector

Course programme

Teaching and assessment

You will need to complete tasks and acquire a portfolio of evidence through work-based learning and assessment, taught sessions and online delivery. A qualified tutor/assessor will examine the evidence which is then approved by the external verifier (appointed by the examining body). Personal learning and thinking skills and employment rights and responsibilities are embedded in the apprenticeship.
