Course Summary:
The Level 3 apprenticeship for Residential Childcare (England) has been announced by the Government as part of the current reform of children’s residential care.
A key driver for reform has been the sexual exploitation of children in care by organised groups in various localities, and the shortfalls in care which this has highlighted.
It is therefore hoped that this qualification will improve the quality of care provided to vulnerable children and young people in residential care, by guiding and assessing the development of carers' knowledge and skills and by confirming their competence.

Course Content: Learners will complete the Level 3 Diploma in for Residential Childcare (England). They will develop and demonstrate a range of technical and wider sector-related knowledge to underpin their competence in their job role. This includes: the development of children and young people in residential childcare how to support positive outcomes for children and young people in residential childcare how to safeguard and protect children and young people in residential childcare how to support children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse. You will also study Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. How will I be assessed? You will produce a portfolio of evidence and will be allocated an assessor who will assess your competence in the workplace. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?
