Course programme

This course offers a specialised route into working in senior leisure or business consultant roles, senior customer service or travel adviser roles, as team leaders or senior resort representatives. In order to progress into your chosen role within the travel services industry it is widely accepted that Apprenticeships demonstrate your skills and competencies to assist your progression through the career ladder.

The qualifications within this Apprenticeship will allow you to get ahead in the travel and tourism industry. You’ll develop your skills and gain knowledge, understanding and well-recognised qualifications that help you get your dream job. In addition, you will be taught by professionals that have attained exceptional knowledge, understanding and industry related work experience and some that continue to work within the Industry.


Within the Level 3 Diploma and NVQ, candidates will undertake a range of mandatory and optional components that include:

  • Promotions and sales in Travel and Tourism
  • Developing people in Travel and Tourism
  • Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations including, England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland
  • Development of Tour Operators’ products and services
  • Principles of marketing for Travel and Tourism
  • Travel Insurance
  • Special Interest Holidays and Independent Travel
  • Arranging Business Travel
  • Air Fares and ticketing – Learn Travel
  • Overseas representatives and resort operations
  • Planning and delivering guided tours
  • Ski Chalet Hosts and Holiday park Hosts
  • Conferences and Events
  • Foreign Exchange and Package Holidays.

There are additional optional units to choose dependent on the pathway the candidate will be progressing from. We aim to provide the most bespoke and unique apprenticeship pathway in Travel Services to ensure individuals have options and can further progress and specialise in a specific area.


As a student of Oldham College you will have full use of all the college facilities; including a fully equipped gym and sports arena. Students will also have access to the facilities of our partnership companies during their training and employment. On site at Oldham College we have a replica plane which is now utilised for Travel and Tourism class-based and work-based learners, which is also supported with a model plane for real life practical based assessment.

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Travel Services (Leisure and Business)

Level 3 Technical Certificate in Travel Services

Award in Employment Rights and Responsibilities in Hospitality, Leisure & Travel and Tourism (Specific Unit embedded within the NVQ)

Level 2 Functional Skills – Maths and English (unless already accredited)

Potential Added Value Qualifications such as Customer Service and First Aid at Work
