This course will introduce you to a menagerie of scientists from the Age of Discovery through to the 20th century. Meet daring, ingenious and sometimes eccentric individuals who pushed all boundaries to bring zoological discoveries to light. Some explored beyond the edges of the map, others broke the mould of conformity, and some were never seen again. Join this course for a set of adventures you won’t forget. Following the three classroom sessions this course includes a visit to the Natural History Museum to view zoological artefacts relating to the scientists studied.Brenna Boyle (B.Sc Hons Dunelm, M.Sc DIC) is a zoologist, wildlife guide and environmental teacher. She runs Wild Capital; London's wildlife discovery service and also works for two urban environmental education charities.

About this course

• Name ten scientists who advanced the field of zoology through pioneering thought and adventure• Describe in detail at least one of these adventures and the implications for natural science• Plot a timeline of major breakthroughs in zoology from the 15th to the 20th century• Explore the Natural History Museum with increased awareness and enjoyment• Understand how to further your interest, including knowledge of relevant places to visit in London.

Bring a notepad and pen. You will need to pay for your own travel to the Natural History Museum.
