Course programme
This course is essentially about seeing the figure in a personal way and considering how best you can translate that seeing into drawing. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate student, you will start, improve and develop your drawings whilst making them dynamic, powerful and spontaneous. A variety of exercises are designed to encourage you to experiment, develop confidence, and, most importantly, expand your ability to 'see'.
Topics covered
- using of charcoal, pencils, soft pastels, oil pastels, inks and acrylics
- applying colour will be introduced during the latter stages of the course
- practicing with a number of different dry and wet media
- experimenting with line, tone, texture, scale and composition
The course is an opportunity for you to improve your observational drawing skills and explore new ways of seeing and depicting the human figure
Who should attend this course?
It is not necessary to have practical experience to join the course. All that is required is that you allow yourself to forget what you think you know and let your eyes and hands do the rest.
More experienced students wishing to further develop their drawing or to build a drawing portfolio are also welcome.
