This updated course in Computer Science can be taken at AS or A-level, and involves the basis of computer design, the Internet, binary data manipulation and database structures. Students also have the opportunity to develop their skills in a programming language of their choice, and produce a project based on this.

About this course
The course objectives are to build up knowledge of the computer system, secure data transfer and database structures. Developing skills in a high level programming language is also necessary for the coursework.
Those with a genuine interest in computer systems and their applications, who may want to continue their studies at university.
GCSE (or equivalent) passes in English and Maths, and a demonstration of the skills required to succeed in this area. This could be through other qualifications gained, or relevant experience.
AQA AS or A-level Computer Science
Very few institutions offer AS or A-level Computing, especially as a 1 year course.
