This is an advanced course for school leavers or mature students who want to retrain in the animal care industry. This course allows you to improve your animal experience and confidence through practical work with our range of reptiles, mammals, birds and paddock animals in our new animal centre facilities. It also helps to develop your academic skills in order to progress onto university or into the workplace.

What you need to know
How will I study?

You will cover a variety of core modules such as biology, animal behaviour, animal nutrition, animal health and husbandry, and animal welfare. You will work in the animal centre and learn about the day to day care of a wide variety of species.
How will I be taught?

You will be taught in both classroom sessions and through practical work in the animal centre and around the estate. You will also study and undertake practical activities on our working farm and at our equine yard. You will be required to complete work experience externally, this will be further discussed at interview.
How will I be assessed?

There will be two externally set tests in the Spring and timed assessments based on coursework that will be completed throughout the year.
