This day discusses current approaches to crown preparation, materials and smile planning and offers hands on experience in tooth preparations.

Aims

To review materials and methods to fabricate aesthetically pleasing restorations

Objectives

1. To plan tooth preparations for different restorative materials

2. To review the types off finishing lines and their indications

3. To review aesthetics, planning restorations and the concepts of golden proportion

4. To make optimum preparations of teeth and marginal placement

5. Gingival retraction and impression making.

Practical preparations will include:

1. Minimal preparation porcelain jacket crowns

2. Porcelain jacket crowns

3. Bonded porcelain crowns

4. Shade taking
