Antique Furniture Restoration

The course will cover the basic techniques and materials used in completing simple structural and finish repairs to antique wooden surfaces. Students should be able to complete simple structural repairs and start to appreciate the refinishing of antique wooden surfaces by the end of the course.Subject will be taught by way of short theory sessions and practical demonstrations followed by supported workshop sessions. During these self-organized sessions students will complete tasks involved in previously discussed projects. To achieve these projects will require the patience and understanding involved in learning a new craft and at times, demanding a range of hand skills, within a group situation.
