2 ½ day course: Residential

Suitable for
Project managers, with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in responsible leadership functions of non-complex projects, wishing to have their capability as a project manager recognized by a formal qualification.

Delegates must satisfy one of the following criteria for project management knowledge:

  • Passed the APMP qualification or

Alternatively, delegates should have a good foundation knowledge of project management, supported by evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Summary
The APM Practitioner qualification assesses whether a delegate can apply appropriately those knowledge areas defined in the APM BoK. Delegates are assessed against 30 criteria, which require them to demonstrate that they can analyse, identify and understand both issues and information, and manage a non-complex project.

Content
No formal input of theory is included in this assessment process.

Objectives
By the end of the course, delegates will have demonstrated their ability to manage non-complex projects from start to finish.

Exam Structure
Delegates will attend an Assessment Centre for 21/2 days. During that time, they will be assessed as follows:

Group work (observed) - delegates will carry out group exercises in order to discuss and solve problems relating to a case study. This will constitute the majority of the work.

Individual work - delegates will provide written answers to questions based upon the given case study and will also provide a written answer to a question on a topical issue in project management related to their own experience.

Interviews - all delegates will be interviewed individually.
