This is an ideal course for graduates of a Foundation degree or HND programme wishing to further their study to gain a full Honours Degree. This qualification provides graduates with the potential for employment in a range of animal management professions and aims to develop management skills and knowledge alongside research techniques and evaluative thinking. This course concentrates on aspects of animal management such as behaviour, health and welfare in domestic, production or zoological animal industries or organisations. During the first part of the academic year an optional field trip to South Africa is offered.

Course programme

During the top-up year modules include: Psychology of Animals Applied Animal Welfare Animal Behavioural Management Veterinary Microbial Pathogenicity Animal Conservation and Management (option) Aquatic Management and Conservation (option) Dissertation. You will be required to attend a series of lectures, seminars and practical sessions; some modules require self-study. Guest speakers from a variety of animal-based organisations will deliver presentations to provide you with an industry perspective.
