New course supported by NHS (National Education Service) and designed to provide academic and practical training to enable radiology helpers to upgrade to Assistant Practitioner. Because of practical content applicants must be employed within a radiology department or have arrangements in place to gain that practical training. It is possible to undertake specialist options in either Therapeutic or Diagnostic Radiography. Course approved by the College of Radiographers for registration of practitioners.

Course Duration
Course Duration: 18 months

Hours per week: 6.5 hours - 1 day college, 4 days hospital department
Course Content
Psychology; Physiology; Anatomy; Radiotherapy; Patient care; Radiation Oncology Science/Diagnostic Radiography.
Progression
Assistant Practitioner post and registration. Possible BSc (Hons) Degrees in: Diagnostic Imaging Science (Radiography) Radiation Oncology Science. (Progression routes still to be negotiated.)
