This one day course will examine different dietary frameworks for people living with and beyond cancer

Reviewed the evidence and practical issues around common ‘restricted’ diets used by people affected by cancer e.g. macronutrient diets such as low carbohydrates, vegan and macrobiotic diets
Reviewed the current evidence relating to diets
Considered the patient perspectives and legal, ethical and safety issues regarding diets
Been provided with an overview of practical ideas and tools to use in supporting clients on various evidence-based diets, including clinical monitoring
Learned the emerging areas of research on dietary impact in people affected by cancer
Received tips on how to communicate with other healthcare professionals

Qualified nutritional therapists, nutritionists, dietitians and naturopaths who wish to improve client compliance through improved therapeutic relationship
Health care specialists e.g. doctors and clinical nurse specialists with a background knowledge of nutrition principles
Researchers/academics in related areas
Nutrition students in their final year of training (Students in earlier years are recommended to attend this course nearer the end of their training.)

Who will teach?

Carol Granger is a Registered Nutritional Therapist practicing in London and West Sussex, and a researcher at the University of Westminster, where she completed research for a professional doctorate on the practice of nutritional therapy for people affected by cancer.

How will I be taught?

The course will include short sessions of lectures to establish key concepts and scientific underpinnings and help appraise the state of current research, followed by clinical case study exercises, group work and discussions to consolidate learning and encourage critical thinking. Space is limited to 35 participants. You will be provided with essential information, practical tips and take home resources to help quickly implement learning from the course into your work.

Materials will be provided electronically approximately two weeks before the course. If you book less than 5 working days before the course or on the day, we cannot guarantee that you will receive the link until after the course. ION will provide any materials needed for group work on the day, but not other materials.
