From fifteenth-century religious art to modern conceptual pieces, this short course will introduce you to the different styles, techniques and concepts of art to be found within London's art galleries.

About this course

Art collections are so diverse that there can be barriers when it comes to appreciating art in different contexts. Fifteenth-century religious art, for example, stands in complete contrast to modern conceptual art practices.

Starting with the art of Sienna and Florence in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, this short course follows the artistic development towards the Renaissance and continues through the centuries to the art of today.

Art will be studied in a historical context, looking at the times and places where the artists lived, and the course will cover a variety of topics including portraiture, religion and landscape art. Works of art and installations will be appreciated by sharing observations and opinions within the group. Colour and constructional theories will be looked at in relation to painting, sculpture, installation, sound and video works.

This course is open to all but might be of particular interest to fine art, art therapy, art history, visual cultures and curatorial studies students.

The center will contact you once you have sent your information through the form.
