APPRENTICESHIP FITTED INTERIORS
Who is this course for?
If you want to learn how to design, build and install kitchen cabinets, wall units, built in wardrobes and display cases for both commercial and domestic markets, this course is for you. You will work both on site and in the workshop.
You will need to be good at maths (in order to make mathematical calculations) have good communication skills (dealing with the customer) and good hand-eye co-ordination (assemble the finished piece of work).
How long is this course for?
1-4 years depending on how many levels you want to progress through.
What will I study?
- Interpret drawings, specifications and written instructions
- Assemble and fit floor and wall mounted units to plan
- Scribe and fit required worktops
- Plumb in new appliances e.g. (Dish washers, Washing machines, kitchen sink etc )
- Electrical installation of appliances, (cooker, fridge, microwave, extraction fan, washing machines etc)
- Health and Safety
- Work with people as part of a team
- Essential Skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology. Applicants who have achieved GCSE English, Mathematics or IT at grades A-C, will be exempt from the equivalent essential skill.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be an on going process. You may be assessed through practical demonstration, oral questioning, assignment/project work, written tests and simulation.
