APPRENTICESHIP HEAVY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
Who is this course for?
This course is designed to meet the needs of those working on heavy vehicles of the transport and public service type. Commercial vehicle mechanics maintain and repair a wide range of trucks, trailers, coaches and specialist vehicles so as to ensure the safe and efficient transport of goods and passengers.
Vehicle repair is challenging, hands-on work because every vehicle will present a new problem to solve. You will need good communication skills in order to explain to the customer what is wrong and how long it will take to fix it. To be a good Heavy Vehicle mechanic you will need to be physically fit and willing to train and gain experience of using hand tools, specialised equipment and machinery.

1-4 years depending on how many levels you want to progress through.

Assessment will be an on going process. You may be assessed through practical demonstration, oral questioning, assignment/project work, written tests and simulation.
