Who is this course for?
This certificate course is primarily aimed at those who wish to study and use counselling in their work roles, for example, social work, nursing, teaching, policing, working in voluntary organisations etc. The Advanced Certificate in Counselling is a nationally recognised qualification offered to learners who are interested in developing their use of counselling skills.

What will I learn?
The primary learning goal is that learners will acquire a comprehensive ability in both counselling skills and theory and will see the qualification as further career development in their own field.This course is part of the progressional route to full practicing counsellor status and so placement experience in a counselling setting is a mandatory requirement.Learners should be willing to abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and show the ability to share personal information and maintain confidentiality within the class setting.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
The Advanced Certificate can be achieved on successful completion of the course. This certificate, however, is a `stepping stone' for the learner to progress onto the AQA Advanced Diploma in Counselling, bringing them to professional / practitioner status. This upgrade to the Diploma, which depends on interview and tutor recommendation, requires completion of an additional unit and a mandatory counselling setting placement experience.
