What will I learn?
The primary aim of this course is that, on completion, learners will be competent using a range of counselling skills, understand the importance of ethical practice and gain access to progression opportunities in employment and / or further education / training. This course also contains one unit of the Advanced Certificate in Counselling enabling learners to `taste' and progress in further counselling / counselling skills development. The course, although skills based, will integrate counselling skills with theory and ethical practice in particular client / counsellor health and safety.
Assessment

On Completion Achievement / Progression
The Intermediate Certificate alone does not provide the learner with a professional qualification in counselling or entitle its holder to practice counselling professionally. On successful completion you will have the skills and qualification to use counselling skills adequately in a number of environments, including the caring professions, teaching, youth work, mentoring etc. and will have completed one additional unit towards the Advanced Certificate in Counselling, the second part of this particular progressional route, which can lead to full practicing counsellor status. Progression to the Advanced Certificate in Counselling is not automatic and depends on successful completion of the Intermediate Certificate, tutor recommendation and interview.
