This programme is run jointly with the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Design at Heriot-Watt University. Combining the specialisms of our two institutions, it helps you develop project management skills with a wider appreciation of architectural design, sustainability and modern methods of construction.

The programme examines the concepts, practices and strategic issues related to construction project management, leading to an in-depth understanding of how project management professionals can provide an added value service to their clients. Providing flexible study options delivered entirely through distance learning, it is ideal for those in employment or with family or other commitments.

Heriot-Watt University offers study in the theory and practice of project management, contracts, procurement, risk and value management. ECA provides courses in design culture, sustainable built environments and modern methods of manufacturing and construction.

You will receive comprehensive materials for each course through an online Virtual Learning Environment and assignments are carefully structured to ensure you receive useful formative feedback at every stage of your work. Weblogs and discussion boards encourage lively collaboration with tutors and fellow students.

The programme is aimed at professionals from all backgrounds currently working in the construction industry to help enhance their career progression. It is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), demonstrating its professional recognition and industrial relevance.
