History

2007 marked one hundred years since the founding of Edinburgh College of Art on its present site. During the Centenary year, a number of events brought together current and former students and staff, and the wider community, to celebrate the contribution this much loved and respected College and its alumni have made to the worlds of art, design and architecture - contributions that have enriched the lives of countless people here and overseas.

Advantages of studying here

Our facilities are excellent, but the ideas which continually drive and refresh our education are even more important. Our staff are practising artists, designers, architects, curators and writers, many with international reputations. Edinburgh College of Art graduates move into an extraordinarily wide range of careers and make a real contribution to the social, cultural and economic life of Scotland, the UK, and many other countries. Added to this, our degrees are validated and awarded by the University of Edinburgh, internationally recognised as a leading academic institution.

Description

Edinburgh College of Art has an international reputation as one of the most successful independent art colleges in the UK. We have won that reputation by offering the highest quality of experience for our students and staff, and by providing a learning environment, which is both supportive and challenging. The College is known for its creativity, its co-operative atmosphere and its people; one recent graduate described the College as 'an ideas factory'.
